Summer has arrived. The Abundance of rain we received this winter should allow us to enjoy our lakes and flowing rivers.

We hope to find that you and your business have seen an improvement compared to last year. We here at Premier Staffing have seen some increase in hiring. It looks like a slow but very steady climb in the right direction.

Hot Weather Safety Reminder

Heat Kills

Heat illness includes heat cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

Workers have died or suffered serious health problems from these conditions.

Heat illness can be prevented.  Know the symptoms of heat illness. Watch for symptoms in yourself and coworkers. If your employee’s feel any of these symptoms have them report to their supervisor immediately because they may need medical help. Have your employee’s know who to talk to and how to get help before you start each day.

Early symptoms include:

  • Fatigue
  • Heavy Sweating
  • Headache
  • Cramps
  • Dizziness
  • High pulse rate
  • Nausea/vomiting

Life-threatening symptoms include:

  • High body temperature
  • Red, hot, dry skin
  • Confusion
  • Fainting

Stay Alert to the Weather

During a heat wave, you are at greater risk of getting sick. You need to watch yourself and employees more closely, and may need to drink more water, take more breaks, and use other measures.

Drink Enough Cool, Fresh Water

Drink at least one 8-ounce cup every 15 minutes during your work shift. Do not wait until you are thirsty to drink water. Avoid coffee, choose water over soft drinks.

Take rest breaks in the shade to cool down.

Wear the Proper Clothing

Loose fitting, lightweight cotton clothes, a wide-brimmed hat or cap, and a bandana.
